I designed this necklace a few years ago, at the age of 45.  At that time I recall feeling distinctly 'in the middle' of my life - shaped by my not-insignificant past, yet still yearning towards my future. I have, since then, been mindful of this feeling of in-between-ness, and aware that it is perhaps just one more illusion. What is youth? Age? The pieces in this series play on this not knowing… a bit of fun with shape, texture, with what is fluid and what rigid, the way that all of these elements can co-exist in one piece.
